Cable Internet is another form of broadband Internet connection, broadband being high speed Internet. Unlike DSL which is provided through the phone infrastructure, cable Internet is supplied through cable television. The whole system is integrated into the cable television system allowing most of the home based users to connect to the Internet at high speeds. Most forms of cable Internet have much higher speeds available than the average DSL connection. |

DSL or Digital Subscriber Line is one of the commonly used types of Internet connections. DSL is mainly used for home purposes rather than for companies. DSL has been around since 1998, but since then it has improved a lot. Last great upgrade was done by a Korean company that enabled a bandwidth of 50mb/s, but typical DSL connection for home use goes from 1mb/s up to 6mb/s. Depending on the provider you choose you may get more, but there is always a difference in downstream and upstream speed between providers. The most common downside to DSL connection is the upstream which is very limited in most cases. |

Wireless Internet is another fairly new form of high speed Internet. Wireless Internet has only been used as it is today for the last few years, but its history goes back almost 15 years. We all know the concept of wireless Internet which is being able to connect to the Internet without landline or any form of cable. That makes it a really marvelous breakthrough in Internet technology. Is wireless Internet as good as it sounds or it does have flaws? Well, of course it has flaws, but considering the improvements we have seen in the last few years, wireless Internet may soon take over the leading role from DSL and Cable. What makes wireless Internet so great? The main thing is the all around connectivity that it provides. |
